Film Photography is Alive and Well in Philly: Karen Heller wrote a nice piece about Philly-based photographer Tsuyoshi Ito and his his photography studio, Project Basho, in the Kensington section of the city. Ito offers a community darkroom, introductory and advanced classes and specialized workshops on historical processes and other photography-based issues (at very affordable rates).
This Temple grad (by way of Japan) shoots it old school using century-old cameras (Korona, Rembrandt and Deardorff ) he gets on eBay. Check out the 36 Views of Philadelphia to get a taste of his work. Simply put, “Basho is committed to preserving the art of photography and fostering an active culture around photography through many programs in Philadelphia.” Good for him and good for Philly. I bet he doesn’t have a 500 GB external hard drive full of blurry and red-eyed digital photos like the rest of us.
Speaking of Nice Photos (and a Perfect Holiday Gift): Photographer Pat McCarthy has a bunch of fine beach/shore photos and calendars available at Jersey Shorescapes. Don’t worry, there are no speedo-clad peeps in the photos, just magnificent, soothing scenes of the Jersey Shore from the Atlantic coast to the shores of the Delaware Bay. Like I said, a really good and easy gift idea.
Photos from The D List: Get ready to say, “Who the hell is that?” and “Why on earth would they do this to themselves?” as you enjoy this slideshow of uncomfortably posed Trump toadies. Realizing they would need some airtime to fill due to the writers walk-out, NBC resurrected this horror show. No need to wonder why the Peacock network is behind Fox in the ratings.

Yawn: That animated show that was on after “The Simpsons” a while ago, but wasn’t nearly as funny as “The Simpsons,” is back and some people are excited.
