My Favorite Music of 2012

December 21, 2012

The Holy Mess

In no particular order, here’s what brought me great sonic joy this past year. Good to see some old faves back in action and especially nice to see Philly putting out so much killer music, kudos to Restorations, The Holy Mess and Everyone Everywhere.

I was also lucky enough to see four fantastic shows this year. Propagandhi and Mogwai blew me away as expected, Philly vets Lefty’s Deceiver got back together to drain every ounce of energy out of their bodies at Milk Boy for an amazing set, and Bob Mould blasted through Sugar’s Copper Blue and ended with some solo and Husker Du classics (it was also my best performance air drumming while wiping tears of happy wistful memories from my eyes). Young bands who still stop between every damn song to fiddle around please take note, Bob charged NINE songs before he stopped for a brief moment to say hi. That’s why he’s the best ever.

Enjoy your holidays!
