Behold All The Dance Moves I Have Mastered »

Wait, sorry, if you’re looking for that YouTube sensation guy doing all the funny dance moves, go here. If you want to get a glimpse of every dance move really worth doing at the club, a wedding or the break room, press play on these two vids. Not at the same time though, that will confuse you and combining dance moves is physically dangerous. I broke my epiglottis doing the “Pizzamaker/Angel Babies ” combo.

Enjoy My Favorite Songs of 2010, They Are Spectacular! »

There should be something for everyone here. If there’s not, well, we shouldn’t be friends. Kidding! You’ll love everything. Versus came back strong after a long Superchunk-like hiatus and crafted a beauty. Leatherface created my favorite album of the year, jam packed with gravelly emotion (it brings tears). Bottomless Pit still haunts me. Boston Spaceships, The Soft Pack and We are Scientists produced some insanely catchy pop rock. Audible, Aloha, Tre Orsi and Jeremy Porter set some stellar moods. Defiance, Ohio and Joy Formidable bring some much-needed euphoria and smiles. Double Dagger and The Holy Mess rock the eff out and Roky Erickson just plain kills it! Happy New Year!

When I first started the show I had to play everything the station had regardless of quality, because I didn’t have a library of my own and I wanted to fill the time with holiday cheer. Now I have too much great music to hope to squeeze into the 24 hour window. It sounds like a long time, but it divides down to around 300 songs when all is said and done.

Unearthered Videos: The Go-Betweens »

Man, The Go-Betweens certainly were a fun and extremely talented bunch of Aussies, as you can see in this video for “Was There Anything I Could Do?” Their poppy but nowhere near cutesy sound and style bring to mind other 80s bands like Let’s Active, Prefab Sprout, The House of Love and The Mighty Lemon Drops, who were a much-needed contrast to the Descendents, Bad Brains and Naked Raygun that were blaring through my Walkman headphones at the time. Rest in peace, Grant McLennan.

“Shot After Shot” by Rival Schools »

Good to have Rival Schools back after a decade-long break. Their first long-player “United by Fate” is a masterpiece, love love love the song and video for “Used for Glue”. The video tells the the tale of young indie rock love  set to a fairly unromantic song. A welcomed contrast. Speaking of romance, here’s my [...]
