Been Wanting to Join That Group of Angry Villagers?! How to make a torch for less than a dollar

Eh… NBC announced six new shows for the fall. (Super quick review). Five look like garbage (another TV version of that borefest film “Parenthood,” really?) and one looks interesting only because Joel McHale (The Soup) stars and Chevy Chase co-stars, that’s right, thee “Chevy Chase” of the “Chevy Chase Show” fame.

“Community focuses on a band of misfits, at the center of which is a fast-talkin’ lawyer whose degree has been revoked (Joel McHale, The Soup). They form a study group and, in “Breakfast Club” fashion, end up learning a lot more about themselves than they do about their course work.

Did I just read “learning a lot more about themselves”? Bluck!

The NBC programming brass might want to curtail their visits to the “ensemble workplace comedy” factory. Overproduction is known to cause problems. This product looks a bit lazy, (crazy older guy, hip younger guy, sassy black woman, geek sidekick, high-strung woman, etc.), but McHale does seem charming and there’s much more to do at a college than a typical workplace, so the writers will have a fair shot at fresh material.
