Movie Trailer Review: Herb & Dorothy

If you could choose your grandparents based solely on the loot you’d inherit upon their deaths, Herb and Dorothy Vogel would be a very wise choice. Many life-long compulsive hoarders leave behind an apartment filled with piles of old newspapers, yellowed wallpaper and a suffocating miasma of cat urine,  not these two.  They stuffed every crevice of their tiny New York apartment with art… good art!

Since the early sixties,  this visionary and thrifty couple (postal clerk and a librarian) accumulated over 2,000 pieces of Minimalist and Conceptual Art by the likes of Sol LeWitt, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Richard Tuttle, Chuck Close, Robert Mangold, Sylvia Plimack Mangold, Lynda Benglis, Pat Steir, Robert Barry, Lucio Pozzi, and Lawrence Weiner.

Wow! I know what you’re thinking, “Where exactly in NYC do they live? Building address and apartment number please…?”

Seriously, don’t rob them, just enjoy their inspiring little story.  Also, It’ll be refreshing to watch a documentary that won’t depress the shit out of you.
