"I Like Attention" – Rififi, New York, 10/14/07

i like attention

I spent the weekend hanging around New York, waiting for my friend Gabriel Delahaye to take the stage at Rififi as co-host of Max Silvestri‘s monthly comedy revue, “I Like Attention.” And waiting, and waiting. I accomplished two firsts: Had a bad meal in New York, and got bored in New York (Sunday afternoon, walking around by myself for three long hours.)

The show made it worth it, though, and this month featured the comedy stylings of Patrick Borelli, Jack Kukoda (The Onion), Chelsea Peretti, and Larry Murphy (Adult Swim). I think of this bunch and their other comedian friends as maybe being the ones that are waiting in the wings of stardom. They’re not necessarily next up to win fame’s Super Ball Lottery, but they’ve bought their tickets from a place that sells a lot of winning tickets. Do you know what I’m saying? And in the meantime you can see them for five bucks in a place with a good vibe.

The crown jewel of the show, though, was “Gabe and Max’s How to Get the Dreamlife of Your Dreams Using the Internet,” which had its world premiere at the show. You will surely want to buy what they’re selling.
