Philly Sound Clash, Abandoned Rollercoasters & Risque Comic Book Panels

Rock on!

Philly Sound Clash: Are you in a local band and looking for some fabulous exposure, fat cash, sweet-ass prizes and a taste of fame? Cool, well you and the thousand other music store clerks and baristas in Philly MUST click here now and submit 3 songs between now and January 31st. After the voting is finished, the top 12 bands will be featured on a compilation CD to be distributed all over Philadelphia! The top 6 bands will battle it out at the World Cafe Live on February 21st, 2008.

It’s sponsored by PhillyCarShare (awesome service!) and Philebrity (Fun site, but really I wish I was hip enough to get all of the inside references, pointed jabs and dense sarcasm. I am not.).

Princesses Need Not Apply: Check out the “Girls Rock!” trailer. Looks great, finally something positive out there for the young ladies to embrace.

Sorry Folks, Park’s Closed, Moose Outside Should Have Told You… There’s nothing creepier than an abandoned amusement park (Yes, even creepier than a visit to Neverland Ranch.)

Paper or Corruption? “This Sunday’s cover story in The New York Times Magazine makes plain the threat: The winner of the 2008 presidential election could be decided by flawed, insecure, and hackable electronic voting machines.” Don’t let this happen again, vote with paper!. {thanks to Em for the tip}
