I am going to see Death Cab this Friday at the Mann and was hoping to tailgate. What was the scene when you went to your show?

The state's major cruise operators -- which bring roughly 1 million people a year to ogle Alaska's glaciers and wildlife -- are offering tickets as much as 40 percent cheaper than they did last year. This and the agresive marketing campaign have really helped the cruising business stay afloat (literally).

Hey Dallas -

Yeah, I wouldn't plan on tailgating at the Mann. There is certainly no "scene" there, and I don't even think it's allowed. Your memory of it is pretty spot-on.

I believe that the only time you can bring your own alcohol into the event is for early orchestral shows if you're on the lawn...I could be wrong, but whenever I've gone to see a full priced show by a band like Death Cab (that starts at 8:00 or beyond), I haven't brought anything along and don't recall seeing anyone that did. So, I would definitely suggest going to a local bar beforehand (although also keep in mind that the Mann is in the middle of the park, so there aren't any bars within walking distance or anything like that...and the closest bar you COULD walk to is probably not where you'd want to be hanging out).

If I were going to a bar beforehand, I would probably think about going to perhaps the Penn Inn in Narberth, or whatever the name of that Irish bar is there - McSomethings...that's a nice neighborhood and a quick drive...

I am headed in for the Deathcab show this Thursday from out of town. My friends and I are hoping to tailgate there, however I was there once before (2003?) and dont remember much of a tailgating scene. As I recall there were all grass lots, and as soon as we parked we were hustled in by the staff. I have been doing some research, and it looks like you can bring alcohol into the mann, but only for certain events. My questions, Can we bring alcohol into this event? and is there a tailgating scene at the Mann, or would we be better off going to a local bar before hand?

Thanks!
