I went to a sporting goods store today during lunch to buy some Phillies gear and chatted with the cashier about the festive atmosphere. She asked what I did [for a living] and before I could respond, she said, “You look like you do computers.” Thanks, dear. That’s the exact opposite of saying, “You look like you teach rock climbing.” Sigh.

Brobee… He’s The Little Green One! USA Today declares: ‘Yo Gabba Gabba!’ is monstrous fun for kids, adults. Very true. I love it and so does my oldest wee one. DJ Lance and the colorful crew of happy monsters and a robot keep it odd and interesting: teaching kids dancey dances, playing fun music and schooling the scamps on safe and proper behavior. I heard stoners also like the show, but don’t let those dirty, lazy hippies ruin it for you, give it a whirl.

The show was created by Christian Jacobs and Scott Schultz from America’s #1 not-so-buff, superhero band: The Aquabats. The ‘Bats rule, take a listen to “Look at Me I’m a Winner” to behold their awesomeness (played on UsedWigs Radio way back when). Fun Fact: Crash survivor/drummer Travis Barker was an Aquabat back in late 90s and performed under the name The Baron Von Tito!

More Kidding: I also recommend two other kiddie shows: WordGirl (clever and very funny) and Little Bill (sweet and pleasantly low-key), both are excellent. What’s not excellent? Calliou. Unless you actually enjoy watching a whiny litte bald Canadian and his bland, lumpy parents lump around all day.

WTF Inquirer?! Way to Endorse Obama… and also McCain? What the… No wonder the paper is going — okay, has officially gone — into the shitter. The paper is run by GOP flunky Brian Tierney, who once said he wouldn’t let his politics interfere with the paper. Um yeah… Tierney did indeed demand they publish their dissenting endorsement of McCain.

Big-time pussy move there pal, have the balls to just endorse McCain like you were directed encouraged to by the cabal of Monty Burns-like party superiors you meet with regularly in a secret lair below a 50,000-seat megachurch. Listen, Philadelphians don’t care who the hell The Inky endorses (The Metro has more pull), but this colossally weak hedge makes the paper look sillier and more confused than usual. Egad.

Man Behind “Hope” and “Change”: Interesting video about Shepard Fairey, the graphic artist who created the ubiquitous and iconic Obama images and posters. I thought he’d be a bit more humble, but what the heck, he’s raised over $630,000 for the Obama campaign.

Human Giant News: Aziz Ansari is very funny and also glows in the dark. He’s going on tour to prove it. (A Philly date would be cool, cross your fingers.)

Sports News! Tony Womo Out Three To Four Weeks With Bwoken Widdle Fingey

Only 3 New Songs? The new, long-awaited Jealous Sound EP, Got Friends, is very good, but painfully short.

Retro Geek Seating: Unintentional Pac-Man Furniture.

Oopsie: While paging through Brooklyn Vegan, I misread the name of the “The Phenomenal Handclap Band” as “The Phenomenal Handicap Band,” and I immediately clicked on the link hoping to see photos of the inspirational band playing their instruments in a challenging manner. Alas, all limbs were in tact, playing some indie gimmick music. Boo.

Created by agitprop artist Shepard Fairey, this impressive mixed media stencil collage on cotton rag paper is 4 foot x 6 foot in size. Good gravy, that’s some big art!
The piece, only 1 of 3 in existence, will be part of The Art For Life auction, an annual event which benefits Simmons’ Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation. Current Bid: $65,000.00. Like most Fairey art, look for it on eBay after the auction for twice the price.
