Best Rock Video Ever: “Burnin’ For You” by Blue Oyster Cult

This is my vote for the best music video ever made. Why? Because it has everything you could ever ask for in a conceptual rock video, silly. Behold:
- Top-of-the-line logo typography
- Riveting love story/drama unfolding in front of the band as they tear it up
- For the ladies: The Zach Galifianakis-looking singer stuffed into a very tight gold lamé jumpsuit will keep you swooning
- For the guys: The Laraine Newman-looking actress dressed in Sissy Spacek’s clothes will totally do it for you (boner alert!)
- Unique LA setting (not used in 12,000+ action films)
- The thrill-a-minute pace and seamless, action-minded editing
- Smoke Machine
- Aggressive beer can drinking
- Random people walking on and through the set adds that surprise factor and excitement
- Girl hand-dancing across screen at 2:35
- Drummer borrowed Dee Snider’s pants for the shoot
- Lots of FIRE! (in case you missed it, the song has something to do with burning)
- Umlaut
- Greatest special effects ever used for a car-based, self-immolation
- Best use of a dummy for a car-based, self-immolation
- Oblivious hippies dancing in front of a raging car fire (inspiration for Burning Man, no doubt)
- Ends with a flaming album cover (again, this song is about burning)
Have any other examples of “Good Band, Bad Video”?
Fun Fact: BÖC was originally named “Soft White Underbelly”
