Walk Hard, Free Music and The Amazon Book Reader
By Jeff Lyons on Nov 19, 2007 in Daily Distractions

Walk Hard: I thought my appetite for all things Apatow was sated for a while, then I watched the very funny trailer for his new film, Walk Hard. I now want more. Writer Judd Apatow and director Jake Kasdan send up those mawkish music bio-pics (”Ray” and “Walk The Line”) that we’re all sick to death of in a very Airplane-esque fashion. It stars the always-reliable John C. Reilly and fetching Jenna Fischer (Pam from The Office looking so much cuter than that annoyance Reese Witherspoon), plus I believe the criminally under-used Tim Meadows also makes an appearance. Very promising!
Free Music: Guess what kids, you’re getting a special gift for Thanksgiving! Here’s a freshly-stuffed batch of Free MP3s that will inspire you to do great things. So gobble these up quickly and give thanks to these bands (buy their CDs).
iHate: Remember when Sergeant Shaw is compelled to kill when shown the queen of diamonds in The Manchurian Candidate? That is the exact same trigger I feel when I hear that awfully grating “Music is my boyfriend…” song in the latest iPhone TV ad. It’s easily the worst thing I’ve heard since this.
In Case You’re Counting: Here are the Top 50 Websites (based on unique visitors).
In Case You’re Reading: Amazon debuts digital book reader! It’s a portable device that lets you load up a bunch of books that you will eventually get around to reading… one day.
Sports Talk: The Inky’s David Hiltbrand describes that smug ass Joe Buck to a tee: “Buck, who is Fox’s man-for-all-seasons, its locker-room Ryan Seacrest, is what you get when you grow up on a steady diet of Bob Costas and arrogance pills.” Beautifully put.
Indie Vids: Here’s a visually appealing collection of the best indie rock videos of 2007. My faves on the list: Justice’s “D.A.N.C.E” and the ones by José González and Maximo Park.
