  1. Comment “that’s so cool, just like my marathon training” on all friends’ Facebook posts.
  2. Call sports talk radio program every week with your training updates.
  3. Lightly jog everywhere in the office while yelling “Out of my way, I’m tapering!!”
  4. Ask sick friend how she is doing, interrupt response with your race day hydration plan.
  5. Participate in rallies and protests holding “Down with Lactic Acid Buildup” sign.
  6. At parties, always ask the host if they need help with the dishes or any pre-marathon stretching advice.
  7. Hand out GU Energy Gel packs to trick or treaters while dressed as Steve Prefontaine.
  8. Ask parents at soccer games how many marathons have their children run?
  9. Set up a podcast studio in the office kitchen, record a daily “I’m Running a Marathon” podcast.
  10. Do elaborate stretching routine during elevator/train rides.
  11. Line the hallway leading up to your office with inspirational marathon signs.
  12. Go to history lecture about the Battle of Marathon and ask questions about soldiers’ anaerobic thresholds and target heart rates.
  13. After completing the race, wear your finisher medal at work every day for a month.
